Richmond Vale Railway Museum

Want to get involved and help us preserve over 150 years worth of history?

There is a lot of work to be done on site, so if you would like to help here is a list of just some of the areas where your assistance would be appreciated.

General maintenance work carried out from 9.00am each Friday and Saturday.

•PERWAY (Trackwork) – sleeper replacement, clearing vegetation from track side and weed spraying.

•MECHANICAL BRANCH (The loco shed) –metal working skills / boilermaking skills / mechanical skills. Even if you aren’t mechanically minded, you can hand out tools, tidy the area, clean down engines ready for running days.

•GROUNDS KEEPING/GARDENING – we have some

ride-on or push mowers on site. We have a big

area to keep clean and tidy. And a few gardens to

look after.

•PAINTING – can you use a paint brush?

We have lots of things (carriages, locos, wagons etc)

that need painting.

•CARRIAGE SHED-wood working skills

upholstering skills.

Open days and mid-week running

•CANTEEN AND SOUVENIR SHOP – preparing food ,serving, cleaning ,stocking shelves etc.

•ENTRY GATE – meet and greet, selling tickets ,assisting customers ,handing out pamphlets etc.

•MINING MUSEUM – manning the Museum. (A little ,knowledge of the mining industry is recommended.)

•CARRIAGE ATTENDANT , guided tours and generally ,talking to the public.

If you can spend even a couple of hours occasionally just helping somewhere please come along on Saturdays or our Open Days.

Most importantly you must be able to enjoy other like minded peoples company.

Members are kept up-to-date on Society activities through the tri-monthly newsletter. You also receive a discount in the Souvenir Shop and Canteen and Members and their immediate family are admitted free on open days.
