Santa's Steam Special

The Richmond Vale Railway Museum's Santa Special is an exciting event held in November every year to celebrate the joy of Christmas.

This years event will be held on Sunday 19th of November

Santa arrives by historic train about 12:00 (noon) then walks over to the Mining Museum where he will meet with all the children. Mrs Claus will help Santa hand out lollies and show bags.

The museum was devastated by bushfire on September 13 and the site has been slowly proceeding towards a safe reopening to the public. The Santa Special day will be the first opportunity for members of the public to witness the fires impact.

Drinks, ice creams, sandwiches, sausage rolls and pies are available from the canteen. Picnic areas are available for the use of visitors, as are toilets and a baby change room. Donít forget to check out the souvenir shop.

Gates open at 9:30am and close at 4pm.

Due to delays in the process of making the site safe, volunteers have been unable to complete track rehabilitation in time for the Santa Special day, which means we cannot run passenger services just yet, said Peter Meddows, museum chairman.

We will be offering both steam and diesel miniature train rides, exhibitions of model trains, face-painting and as many family activities as we can get onsite for the day.

It will also be the last opportunity to purchase tickets in the museums model railway fundraising raffle, which is to be drawn at 3.00pm that day.

The museums canteen and souvenir shop will be open. Due to the lack of train services, a specially reduced entry fee of $10 adults, $5 children and concessions will apply.
